In 1815, on his return from the island of Elba, Napoleon took the Siagne road in Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey instead of the route currently known as the Napoleon road (RN 85) due to the precarious state of the road. This forced him to abandon his cannons and carts in Grasse, continuing his journey on horseback while having his equipment transported by mules. In 1817, the Royal Road connecting Antibes to Sisteron was essential for the trade of goods. At that time, the mountains provided wheat to the coastal cities and the nearby plain, in addition to producing meat, sheep wool, and mules renowned for their robustness.
The mill itself was built around 1853 on land along the Siagne river, intended for flour production and cloth fulling. The annex was added much later. Purchased in 2021, both buildings have been completely renovated to combine modernity, space, simplicity, and comfort.
